Thesis (Tesis)
Director Alejandro Amenábar’s (The Others, The Sea Inside) first feature film has become a modern classic of Spanish cinema. Thesis is a thrilling rollercoaster ride of a film that represents a mesmerising and stylised reflection on the fascination and repulsion of violence in contemporary audiovisual society. During her academic research on media violence, Ángela stumbles across a snuff videotape. She teams up with fellow student Chema to uncover an underground production and distribution network of snuff films that operates inside the Universidad Complutense of Madrid. Their search becomes a terrifying journey in which the line between reality and fiction is blurred by the omnipresent eye of the camera.
