ISAKI LACUESTA

Lacuesta was born in 1975 in Gerona, Spain, however, his family origins route from the soils of the Vasco region. Lacuesa studied Audiovisual Communication at the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona and graduated with a Masters in Documentary from the university Pompeu Fabra. In 2000 he directed a short science fiction film, Caras vs. Caras and two years later he wrote and directed his first feature film Cravan vs. Cravan, which won the Sant Jordi Award for Best New Work and the Citizen Kane Award for Best Directorial Revelation at the Sitges Film Festival. The film encompassed a number of genres, crossing over between and comprising of elements from both documentary and fiction. It told the story of poet and boxer, Arthur Cravan, the nephew of writer Oscar Wilde, who disappeared in México in 1918. Lacuesta wrote his second feature film, La leynda del tiempo, in 2006, which was also the recipient of a number of prestigious awards and 2009 saw the creation of his next directorial feat, with Los Condenados (The Damned). He is currently in postproduction for his most recent film, Los Pasos Dobles, due for release in 2010.
