Son & Moon (Diario de un astronauta)
MANUEL HUERGA
Originally a history student at the University of Barcelona, in 1975 Manuel Huerga changed the direction of his destiny towards film. He worked predominately with experimental film, in super 8, 16mm and video. In 1977 Huerga founded the Film Vídeo Información (FVI), under which he published two editions of the magazine Visual. In 1983, Huerga began his work in television as a director, working on a number of shows some of which being live events, such as concert, on TV3. Between 1988 and 1989 he directed the fictitious documentary Gaudi, which screened at the International Festival of Barcelona where he won the critics award. In 1990, Mauel Huerga received the Prize for Extraordinary Cinematography of la Generalitat de Catalunya. In 2008, Huerga directed three documentaries Son and Moon, screening at La Mirada, Un Instante Precio, that followed singer Jorge Drexler on his tour to small Catalonian populations and Y el cine marche: una historia del cine al servicio de los Derechos Humanos, a film about film’s role in promoting human rights, presented by Amnesty International to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights. His film Salvador Puig Antich premiered in Australia at the first edition of La Mirada Film Festival
