Award winning director Gustavo Taretto opens the 2011 festival with his stunning film Medianeras, the story of Mariana, Martin and the big city. Although they live on the same block and their paths frequently cross, neither is aware of the other’s lonely existence. Both inhabit a juxtaposed world and share the same everyday scenarios, yet it is the city that brings them together, and, at the same time, keeps them apart… until something happens. Taretto's charming debut, starring the breathtakingly beautiful Pilar López de Ayala, is a quirky, intelligent, compelling and visually astonishing film that will set the mood perfectly for the swankiest of parties.
