Stephen Daldry received an Oscar-nomination as Best Director for his first three movies: Billy Elliot, The Hours and The Reader. He is the first and only person ever to accomplish this. Furthermore, both Nicole Kidman and Kate Winslet won their only Oscars in his films. One of the most important contemporary filmmakers and a favourite of ours, it is a great pleasure to enjoy Spanish cinema through his eyes. His selection, to be unveiled at the screening, will be accompanied by a video introduction recorded especially for the Festival.
