Often referred to as the Argentinean Woody Allen, Daniel Burman presents in Brother and Sister a humorous study of the intricately bound and fraught relationship of a brother and sister in their sixties. The siblings use their inheritance to buy a dilapidated mansion in Uruguay. Marcus, a shy bachelor, finds himself performing in the local amateur production of the Sophocles play “Oedipus Rex”. His flamboyant, overbearing and slightly psychotic sister steals some party invitations and attends the celebration posing as a true guest. On these premises, Burman builds a beautifully witty tale that takes the viewer through the comical and heartbreaking highs and lows of the almost psychopathic intensity of their relationship.
