Ander (Ander)
This poignant drama offers a sensitive examination of the challenges faced by a middle-aged farmer whose certainties are confronted by the arrival of a Peruvian labourer. Ander and his neighbour spend their free time carousing with local prostitute and single mother, Reme. After Ander suffers an accident, he hires José to help around the farm. Set against the verdant, imposing landscape of the Basque countryside, the harsh realities of rural society are portrayed with notable compassion. As this meditative story unfolds in a series of wistfully lingering scenes, new definitions of family begin to develop in this touching debut feature from Roberto Castón.
