A Good Man (Un Buen Hombre)
A Good Man is a superbly-acted, Hitchcockian thriller that represents an intense reflection on morality, hypocrisy and bourgeois society. Juan Martínez Moreno’s second feature focuses on two law professors, Vicente and Fernando, whose almost paternal relationship is tainted by an unspeakable crime. Vicente’s sense of loyalty prevents him from reporting it to the police, but his strong religious convictions and rigid moral standards preclude him from forgiving his friend. Soon his silence transforms into complicity, as ambiguities and contradictions turn his carefully controlled world into a well of hypocrisy.
