The exceptionally talented Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, Hell Boy), curates a special retrospective of Mexican cult cinema exclusively for La Mirada. We delve into the iconic director’s influences with The Vampire (1957), Brainiac (1962) and Cabeza de Vaca (1991), classics never before seen in Australia.

Guillermo del Toro has managed to maintain his cult following of hardcore fans, amongst whom are some of the world’s coolest and most respected contemporary filmmakers (including Quentin Tarantino), while becoming one of Hollywood’s most successful directors with superb high-grossing films such as the Hell Boy saga. His film, Pan´s Labyrinth was an enormous success worldwide and won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film. It is a true privilege to screen Guillermo del Toro´s favourite Mexican films.
