Dear Friends,

I want to express my total support for La Mirada, Jewels of the Spanish Cinema, which I will endeavour to contribute my grain of sand by annually selecting five jewels of my country's cinema to be seen in Australia.

I know that I am fortunate in that my films are seen in Australia but there are many extraordinary filmmakers both from previous and current generations who remain to be discovered. I strongly believe that through La Mirada we will open a window for these artists' work to be viewed. I am very excited to be involved in this project.
