Gabriel Medina, 102 min, Argentina, 2008. Comedy.
A superb Daniel Hendler gives life to a truly unforgettable anti-hero, Luciano Gauna, one of the most oddly sexy characters in Argentinean cinema ever, in this terrific comedy about an insecure aspiring screenwriter in his 30’s. His feelings of inadequacy worsen when he reunites with his annoyingly successful friend Manuel, who returns from Spain, where he has created a hit tv show called “The Paranoids”. During one of Manuel’s travels, his girlfriend Sofia comes to stay with Gauna, in what is a bane scenario for the dysfunctional loner. It is then when he discovers that the main character on the series is unflatteringly based on him. And what is worse: named after him. Entrancing and full of humor. A really cool film.
