Javier Fésser Short Films
Javier Fésser's most recent feature, Camino (screening at La Mirada in 2009) recently swept the Spanish Academy Awards amongst which he himself was honoured as Best Director. His collection of short films, masterful in their own right, give a wonderful insight into the works that brought him to this success and we are privileged to have Fésser himself present at the screening to talk about his work.
The Good Life
Winner of the Best Foreign Film category at the Spanish Academy Awards in 2009. From acclamied Director, Andrés Wood, this is the first Chilean film to represented in La Mirada.
Vampir Cuadecuc
We proudly present a newly restored print of Vampir Cuadecuc, the ravishing 1970's masterpiece by Pere Portabella, one of the key names in Spanish cinema, an artist with a unique gaze, always ahead of his time, always concerned with the narrative aspects of the cinematographic language. A filmmaker representing the most avant-garde tendencies at any time of his fascinating career. The film premiered in Spain for the first time in August 2008, thirty eight years after its completion. The international premiere at Cannes Film Festival in 1971 was followed by the presentation at the MOMA in New York in 1972. This is a unique opportunity to discover a marvellous film, essential for the cinephile interested in Spanish Cinema and a treat for all wishing to enjoy a truly singular experience of beauty.
