About Us

As most of our audience knows already, ‘Mirada' means ‘through somebody's eyes' and this has been the purpose of the Festival since its conception: to showcase the works and perspectives of truly outstanding artists through Cinema, the form of art we are so passionate about. With this approach, we bring a whole selection of films chosen by one of the most important Spanish artists of our time, Pedro Almodóvar, who annually selects the classics section of our festival. This year we are also proud to announce acclaimed American writer and director, Paul Auster as guest curator of La Mirada. It is an honour for us to show the favourite Spanish film of an international artist of such stature.

In 2008 we are presenting an entire selection of films on Flamenco, undoubtedly the most recognizable Spanish form of popular art, but not always represented with authenticity. Avoiding stereotypes, these films will give our audience an exceptional insight into the depth and beauty of flamenco. All About Flamenco is a fascinating journey through the history of this art, featuring the most unforgettable and passionate performances ever captured on film.

The New Releases section highlights the creations of a group of exceptionally talented and unconventional filmmakers who are redefining the cinematographic language. Their works have been internationally acclaimed as some of the most interesting European films of our time.

We want to express our gratitude to our audience from 2007 for making this festival such a memorable experience. We are convinced that you will be even more in love with cinema after enjoying this wonderful collection of films.
